The 9/11 Boatlift

A couple of years ago when I was in NYC, I was on one of the ferries going to Ellis Island. I started talking to the captain (don't remember how that happened) & I asked him about 9/11. He told me how boats (including his) started heading towards the Towers before the call came out over the radio. He recalled how he was slowed down because of the boat in front of him ... which was a guy in a rowboat who was going to help as fast as he could. I have never forgotten that story.
