The following is part of an email I sent to family and friends regarding the Inaugural protests in DC.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday ... a day that shall live in infamy. The Shrub was sworn into office as President of the United States.
:::sigh:::
Well, as I told NPR, we only have to make it through the next four years. In any case, I decided to go downtown and join the protests ... specifically the NOW protest that was being held at the National Archives. As I am still trying to socialize my puppy, I decided to take her with me and as there was no way on Gods' green earth (or gray as the case may be during winter in Washington) that I was driving downtown, I was going to try the Metro. The Metro doesn't allow dogs so I donned my Rescue Squad jacket and said that she was a service dog (hey .. I am hoping to train her as a Search and Rescue dog so it wasn't that far from the truth). That, of course, meant that I wouldn't be doing much active protesting.
